Mid-Continent Racing Mourns Loss of Mechanic,  Friend
Hundreds of people stood outside Davidson Funeral Home, for the funeral of our friend, Aaron L. Nottestad. The funeral home set up loud speakers so that everyone could hear the service.

Nottestad, 42, was killed Sunday, May 11, when his 1996 Harley Davidson motorcycle was struck by a 2008 Toyota four-door car that was eastbound on K-4 highway and attempting to make a U-turn.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol's crash report, the fatal accident occurred at 10:41 p.m. Sunday on eastbound K-4 highway, just south of N.E. Seward Avenue.

The patrol said the Toyota was unable to complete a U-turn on the bridge and attempted to back up when it struck the motorcycle. Neither the driver nor a passenger in the car were injured.

Aaron was born Sept 3, 1965 at Janesville, WI. He worked as a supervisor at the Topeka Water Department. He raced motorcycles for many years in the Topeka and surrounding area, and was a mechanic for the Mid-Continent Motorsports Team.

Aaron left many friends behind.  Surviving family members include his mother, Judith Nottestad of Topeka, daughter Kaylee Jo Nottestad; brothers, Eddie Vig and Mondo Nottestad both of Topeka; sisters, Susan Vig of Olivet, Darla Schaal and Twyla Elbe in Wisconsin; four nephews, five nieces, one great-nephew and two great-nieces.

"My best memory is from the 2006 Gypsy Rendezvous Nationals," states Moore.  "I will never forget seeing Aaron coming up the return lane.  He was shouting and cheering at the top of his lungs how we had set a new national record."

Aaron's good nature and generosity will be missed by everyone.
